"Laser surgery is one of the newest surgical innovations available to veterinary medicine. It uses surgical CO2 laser light to cut and cauterize tissue instead of a scalpel blade. It literally vaporizes cells to separate the tissue planes for incisions or to vaporize to remove unwanted cells. While common in human medicine for plastic surgery and other medical procedures for many years, it is now available economically enough for veterinary medicine to benefit. It has been invaluable to veterinarians for such common procedures as feline declaws to decrease bleeding, decrease post-operative pain, minimize nerve trauma and swelling, and all around improve post-operative recovery. Experience shows us however, that we can use the laser for many other procedures with the same benefits: mass removals, spay and neuter, orthopedic repairs, soft palate resection, and many others. Small warts, common in many dogs, can often be vaporized even without anesthesia, to minimize patient risk and discomfort."

With the Aesculight laser one can change quickly from a cutting mode to ablating mode. Most of the CO2 lasers are designed primarily for cutting. Ablation with these lasers is very tedious and complicated. In dermatology, most of our procedures require wide field ablations; cutting is not used as often, so this Aesculight laser is an excellent choice for the skin. Aesculight's increased power, cooling system, one-pedal evacuator control, and user interface panel make it a dream machine. Aesculight has hit the ceiling for small animal surgery, we do not need to go higher in power. Higher than 30/20 would take us beyond the capacity to keep the car on the road..."
"I LOVE this laser! It is simply a joy to work with. I especially appreciate the programmability that allows each individual laser surgeon the option to adjust particular user settings such as timing delays of the smoke evacuator and standby modes, common power settings, etc. Having the smoke evacuator tied into the laser footpedal is another great advantage. I also commend you on the engineering advances - despite the fact that this laser is a 30 watt compared to my former 20 watt unit, it never gives me the overtemp warning when running it at high power settings for long periods of time.
